Nick is Director of ArchaeoScape, specialises in pollen and plant macrofossil analyses, and is Projects Manager for Geoarchaeology. He graduated from University College London, Institute of Archaeology, in 1987 with a BSc (Hons) in Archaeology. In 1990, following two years of employment with English Heritage as a pollen analyst, Nick completed the MSc in Bioarchaeology (Archaeobotany) at UCL, and specialised in waterlogged plant macrofossils. He completed his PhD in Geography in 1999 at Royal Holloway (supervised by Prof John Lowe and Roberto Maggi) on 'Vegetation History and Human Activity in the Ligurian Apennines, Italy'. Nick was then awarded a postdoctoral research assistantship in tephrochronology in 2001 at Royal Holloway on a Leverhulme Trust funded project (with Prof John Lowe), before gaining an academic related post in the Department of Geography in 2002. In 2003, Nick was appointed as Lecturer in Physical Geography and Environmental Archaeology.
